Frequently Asked Questions
If you can't find an answer to your question here, get in touch by email or call us and we'll be happy to help.
How does this work?
You set the game playing on the big screen and manage the start of the games using the Game Controller. Then players join in using their own phones.
Can I see who’s playing?
Yes. We provide a report to show how many people have played each game. But we don’t store player names for data protection reasons.
How many games do you have?

Currently, you can pick from Buggy Race, Rebound, and Quiz, with more already in the development pipeline. Browse the games.

We will be adding to the suite with different game types so create an account or follow us on twitter and instagram to find out when they're released.

How much do the games cost?

We have 3 simple duration-based tiers: up to 2 days, up to 5 days and up to 15 days, which we think caters for most types of events.

Go to our Pricing page or browse the games for more information.

Why are the games so cheap?
We've built Piing to be completely self-service. Anyone can easily set up, customise and demo games from our admin system. Our self-service checkout also means a lot less admin for us, so we’re able to pass that saving on to you and spend more time developing new games.
How many people can play the games?
Different games cater for different numbers of players between 2 and 200+. Browse the games to see the differences.
Is there an app to download?
No. Players just go to our website (www.piing.live) and play in the browser on their phones. All the admin stuff is browser-based too. The only thing we strongly suggest is that the PC or Mac running your game on the the Big Screen uses Google's Chrome browser.
How long does it take to make a game?
You can create an account, set up your first event, then customise and preview your first game within minutes. Checkout in minutes too, so your game's live in time for your event.
Is the payment system secure?
We use a payment processing service called Stripe, which means we never see or store your credit card details. They process billions worth of transactions every year, sadly not all for us.
Is my data safe and secure?
Your Piing account is secured with an individually salted and hashed password so no one can guess it or steal it. Additionally, the details you enter into our site and the information we show you is encrypted in transit with TLS to protect you from network eavesdroppers.
Do you provide on-site support?

Typically not. Our system lets you test everything in advance and the setup is mostly typing addresses into a web browser.

If you want extra peace of mind from a technical point of view or for managing the games, get in touch by email or call us and we'll be happy to discuss your specific requirements.

What hardware do I need?

For your big screen it can be any reasonable spec PC, which needs to have an internet connection. WiFi’s fine, but a wired connection will always be more reliable. The Game Controller is browser-based so you can use any phone, tablet or even your computer. Players need to be using a smartphone... sadly Piing won’t work on a Nokia 3310.

See our simple Setup Guide for more info.

Can I run the same game on multiple screens?
No. The game is played from the PC that’s connected to the big screen. Trying to set up the same game twice from different PCs will prompt you to close one of them. You can of course split the signal from the source PC out to multiple screens, if you've got the technical know-how.
Do I need a special WiFi setup for players?

No. Piing games are internet based, so as long as you and your players are connected to the internet then all should work. We would recommend having a wired internet connection for the PC connected to the big screen for better stability, but we've run lots of games with WiFi and it works fine, obviously subject to how good your WiFi is.

Players can connect via 3G, 4G or Wifi on their phones.

Can I test the games before the event?
Yes. Our self-service admin system lets you create and customise the games in advance. You can preview and test them as many times as you want and then schedule and pay when you’re happy. Our lowest price band purposely covers up to 2 days, so provides live testing time on a setup day if you want added peace of mind.
What can I customise?
You can choose between light and dark themes, choose your own team names, upload your own logo and add your own messages to show your players at the end of the game. You can even link them through to anywhere you want (great for driving sign-ups). You have complete control of the quiz questions and answers. Change anything at any time, even when the event is live.
How many games can I add to an event?
As many as you wish. You can have different versions of the same game type – e.g Rebound – running on different screens at your event. Top tip is to rename each activity so you can identify them easily when setting up.
Can you support events longer than 15 days?
Yes. For more permanent installations get in touch by email or call us and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements.
I want to use a lot of these, can I have a discount?

We'd be happy to discuss it.

We think our pricing has been set to offer great value for money on a per-event basis, but if you’re planning on filling your event with lots of these or have something like a roadshow touring for a couple of months, then get in touch by email or call us to discuss your requirements and we’ll help tailor a bespoke package for you.

"I have a game idea - can you make it?"
Of course! We can make bespoke games which use the Piing technology. Get in touch by email or call us to discuss your requirements.
